Welcome to Holland? to the Netherlands? What is the name of this country, that started as a republic and then became a kingdom; whose people speak Dutch and whose neighbo(u)rs speak Deutsch; and whose government is not in its capital ...? And how many NetherlandS are there anyway? What Makes The Dutch Tick will answer all your questions – and probably raise a few new ones too.
WHAT MAKES THE DUTCH TICK
WMTDT is a one day workshop on the Netherlands, its history, inhabitants and language – a short, sharp and shiny introduction to life below sea level in the twenty-first century. It prepares participants for the challenges of living and working in the Netherlands and of dealing with the Dutch, but also for the many opportunities that this tiny but fascinating country offers. WMTDT is a hands-on workshop about the surprises that present-day Dutch society may have in store for you. (These will, of course, differ from one nationality to the other: what seems peculiar to a Japanese or Greek, is perhaps normal for an Australian or an American and vice versa, etc.)
WMTDT is interactive, thought-provoking and fun and will help you understand the Dutch.
Hans Aniba is a trained historian (University of Utrecht), who has been teaching and coaching ‘Dutch-based’ expats for over twenty years.
